Chandigarh – Arrival
This marks the starting point of your expedition. The day is dedicated to group meet-up, trip briefing, and allocation of vehicles. After settling in, if time permits, you may explore nearby attractions at your leisure, such as Sukhna Lake and Rock Garden. Enjoy an overnight stay in Chandigarh.
Pro Tip: Arrive early to avoid last-minute rush and enjoy Chandigarh’s calm vibe before the high-altitude journey begins.
Chandigarh to Narkanda
Begin your journey with a scenic drive along the Himalayan Expressway, passing through the picturesque hill station of Shimla. Upon arrival in Narkanda, explore its key viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Hatu Peak. Check in to your hotel and unwind with a comfortable overnight stay in Narkanda.
Pro Tip: Keep a light jacket handy—temperatures drop quickly as you gain altitude.
Narkanda to Sangla / Chitkul
After breakfast, proceed towards the scenic Kinnaur Valley, driving alongside the Sutlej River and passing through picturesque mountain landscapes. Arrive in Sangla and continue towards Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border, known for its pristine beauty. Explore the surroundings, enjoy the serene atmosphere, and check in for an overnight stay in Sangla / Chitkul.
Pro Tip: Start early and carry essentials, as routes beyond Sangla and Chitkul have limited connectivity and facilities.
Sangla / Chitkul to Nako (Via Shipki La)
Depart from Sangla / Chitkul and drive along the Sutlej River, gradually entering the rugged landscapes of the Spiti region. Experience a major highlight of the day as you pass near Shipki La, a historic Indo-Tibetan border pass, followed by scenic stops at Khab Sangam, Nako Lake (frozen during winters), and Nako Monastery. Arrive in Nako and check in for an overnight stay in this serene and historic monastery village.
Pro Tip: Keep your permits and ID handy, as areas near Shipki La are sensitive border zones with possible security checks.
Nako to Kaza (via Sumdo & Lepcha La)
Depart from Nako and drive deeper into the mesmerizing landscapes of the Spiti Valley, crossing Sumdo and ascending towards Lepcha La. En route, visit Nako Monastery (dating back to 996 AD and often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas”) and witness the breathtaking Dhankar Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliff. Continue your journey to Kaza, the vibrant hub of Spiti Valley, and check in for an overnight stay.

Explore the iconic attractions of Spiti Valley, including Key Monastery, Kibber, and the engineering marvel Chicham Bridge. Visit high-altitude villages such as Hikkim (home to the world’s highest post office), Komic, and Langza, known for its giant Buddha statue and fossil-rich terrain. Return to Kaza for an overnight stay.
Pro Tip: Start early to cover all high-altitude villages comfortably, as routes to Hikkim, Komic, and Langza can be time-consuming due to rough terrain.
Kaza to Kalpa
Depart from Kaza and enjoy a scenic drive back into the picturesque Kinnaur Valley. Arrive in Kalpa, offering breathtaking views of the majestic Kinner Kailash range. Kalpa to Shimla

Shimla to Chandigarh
After breakfast, depart from Shimla and enjoy a scenic drive back through the mountains towards Chandigarh. Arrive in Chandigarh by evening for drop-off, marking the end of your memorable journey with K2K Adventurez.
Pro Tip: Plan your departure with buffer time, as traffic on the Kalka–Shimla Highway can be unpredictable, especially during peak hours.
